6th UHAS SRC administration inaugurated
The much awaited handover ceremony of the Students' Representative Council (SRC) and Local NUGS of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) finally came off yesterday, 28th April, 2018 at the UHAS auditorium, Trafalgar-Ho.
The program, which was chaired by Mr. Prosper Sosu, and graced by the Chief Security Officer, Former SRC and local NUGS executives, and various student leaders, commenced around 5:30pm with a welcome address from the chairperson.
The handing over of both provincial and federal executives of the SRC and Local NUGS executives was led by the out gone Chief Justice of the SRC parliament, His Lordship Justice Edmund Gyan.
In his handing over speech, H.E Pious Afrane, the outgone Federal SRC president, reiterated a number of successes of his administration during his tenure of office. Key among them was the registration of UHAS among the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) games and the free distribution of Vodafone sim cards to students, packaged with monthly data allowance. He also recounted a lot of challenges that hindered the smooth running of affairs in his administration. Notable among which was the long bureaucratic mechanisms the SRC had to follow in retrieving funds from the University's administration to run its affairs. This, he added, decelerated the pace of progress during his tenure of office.
H. E Afrane Pious however, was convinced his administration did its best in pursuing the best interest of students and entreated the incoming executive board members to push further from where he will step down.
H. E Derrick Asare, the newly sworn-in Federal SRC president of UHAS, in his speech, acknowledged the good works done by the outgone SRC board and pledged to build on what his predecessors had started. He added that his administration could only be able to achieve its aims with the support and cooperation of students, to whom their services are dedicated.
Following the presentation of citations to deserving student leaders and staff members, the chairperson, Mr. Prosper Sosu, gave some recommendations in his closing remarks, to the new SRC board members which included purchasing of an SRC bus and establishment of SRC office.
The program was a resounding success, to say the least, with an impressive attendance of students from both campuses of the University and members of staff as well. A peaceful transition of power was achieved.
Campus Radio Ghana says congratulations to all newly sworn-in SRC and Local NUGS executives. We wish you all the best in your tenure of office.
