ARTS project reach out to Cured Lepers in Ho

In recent times, societies and other student organizations of the University of Health of Allied Sciences have been working hard to give back to society and put a smile on the faces of the rejected, mired and less privileged groups in society. The Kerhans Foundation, Rotaract Club and recently, the ARTS project have been major names whose efforts cannot go unrecognised.

'ARTS', an abbreviation for "A Reason To Smile", is an initiative incepted by the women's commission of the University of Health and Allied Sciences in collaboration with Queen Elorm, Queen Esi and Queen Lauretta, the winners of Face of UHAS 2017 under the watch of Ms Sosu Patricia, the Federal SRC women's commissioner.

The donation came off on Friday, 16th of March 2018 where Ms Sosu,  and the Face of UHAS queens reached out to the Ho Leprosarium, a community of an estimated number of 50 inmates. The project was great, it craved the indulgence of huge student personalities including Hon. Kporha Divine, former President of UHAS SRC, Hon Afrane Pious and Hon Appiah Kubi Martin, current Federal SRC president and Vice respectively. 

The dedicated volunteers also received the grace and presence of Reverend Father Williams, a catholic priest who has been a strong rib and guide to the student volunteers since day one, helping them in soliciting funds to endow the donation. Joy News was there with the team to provide coverage of the event. 

The team of student volunteers donated items ranging from foodstuff to clothes and detergents. 

The community of cured lepers thanked Ms Sosu and her team for their kind gesture and appealed to other individuals and institutions to reach out to them as well.
