✳ UHAS SBBS STUDENTS TO ATTEND ANNUAL GAMBIMBS CONGRESS
The Ghana Association of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Students, GAMBIMBS is set to hold its annual congress at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST in Kumasi from 20th through to 25th of February, 2018. UHAS SBBS, being part of this association will be represented by a suite of students led by their president, Mr. Abraham Norman Nartey.
UHAS GAMBIMBS was established on 13th September, 2016 as spearheaded by Mr. Abraham Norman Nortey and Mr. Fumador Sebastian. The association was later ratified under the National GAMBIMBS at the University of Ghana, Legon on the 3rd of March 2017. UHAS GAMBIMBS has since gone on to mark its 1st week celebration in 2016 where various activities including an interschool quiz competition for which UHAS GAMBIMBS won ahead of other like campus based associations, an interschool soccer competition for which UHAS GAMBIMBS placed 2nd, and a seminar were organised.
UHAS GAMBIMBS has also contributed to a study conducted by the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. In October last year, GAMBIMBS in collaboration with NAMSA embarked on a Hepatitis B screening program. For a young association, UHAS GAMBIMBS' achievements in two years have been very eye-popping.
Campus radio's Miriam Gborglah gathered from an exclusive interview with UHAS GAMBIMBS president, Mr. Norman Nortey that preparations are ongoing in anticipation of the congress. Mr. Nortey also recounted that about 60 SBSS students have been selected on the basis of their potentials to participate in the congress where there shall be project exhibition, and a Career and Mentorship seminar.
The suite of SBSS students is expected to set off on 20th February 2018 to KNUST, Kumasi where the congress shall be held.
