Asare Derrick overwhelmingly endorsed as Federal SRC President of UHAS

CAMPUS RADIO GHANA    24/03/2018

Asare Derrick overwhelmingly endorsed as Federal SRC President of UHAS

The name on the tongues of most students of the University of Health and Allied Sciences is Mr. Asare Derrick who beat his competitor, Philip Hanson in a landslide victory with a huge margin percentage wise in the Federal SRC Presidential elections.

The SRC and Local NUGS of University of Health and Allied Sciences elections held yesterday 23rd of March, 2018 came with its own surprises and shock when the election results were declared by the Electoral Commissioner of the UHAS SRC, Hon. Haruna Salisu Mohammed.

The EC recently adopted the E-voting system in the just ended elections which they describe as a perfect replacement for the traditional system where ballot boxes were used. The polls delayed in starting at the agreed 8 am as most polling centers were still setting up, however, the polls ended at exactly 6:30pm yesterday.

Campus Radio gathered from some polling agents at various polling centers on both campuses that the process was smooth except for the slow pace of the internet connection, power outages and rain showers.

The EC Chair in addressing the students before the declaration of the results said the elections was free and fair, adding that the process faced some difficulties like network fluctuations amongst others.

This is the second time elections have been conducted under the recently adopted Federal-Provincial system of governance as was adopted by the SRC of UHAS. Below is the breakdown of the results for both the SRC and Local NUGS elections.
