UHAS duo get appointment to USAG committees

The Local NUGS presidents of Ho and Hohoe campuses of the University of Health and Allied Sciences last Saturday got appointments to serve in the University Students' Association of Ghana (USAG) as Academic committee and Judiciary committee members respectively.

The Local NUGS President of the Ho campus Hon. Isaac Nlason in an interview with Campus Radio correspondent and host of UHAS CONNECT Mr. Richard Mawunyo Dartey expounded that the constitution gratifies appointments and swearing in of committee members which is done during the first Senate meeting of an administration. Hon. Nlason was grateful to God for his appointment and his colleague's Hon. Ernest Ewoenam Sodoke who was also appointed to serve on the Judiciary committee.

Hon. Nlason elucidated that NUGS is the biggest students’ movement and is concerned with all students in the country whereas USAG focuses more on the universities.

He disclosed that a lot more has to be done to register the essence of students at the lower levels. He said, in moving forward “our unions must get back to the drawing board to revise the core objectives of their being" by advocating for the ordinary Ghanaian student and protecting their rights and interests. He added that mentorship programs for our basic schools, objectively engaging the government while shunning divisions is a way forward.

Hon. Nlason clinched that “we’ve roles to play as students to manifesting the relevance of our unions at the lower levels”.

In response to a question about his level of commitment, Hon. Nlason indicated that he is part of the few who believe in selflessness and commitment to duty. He was as such confident in giving out his best to serving the purpose for which he was appointed.

He opined that leadership is a call to service and should be seen as such and those who are not ready to serve but ready to lord over in the upcoming SRC administration are not qualified and should stay away.

Finally, Hon. Nlason reiterated their commitment as a secretariat to serving the interests of students and is steadfast in meeting their goals until all is over. He entreated his fellow students on the Students' Loan to stay calm as their loans will be disbursed very soon.

Also, registration for birth certificates and enrollment into the driving school are still ongoing and he entreats all students to patronize these projects.
