The Success Story of GhanaThink Foundation; Mr. Ato Ulzen-Appiah Recounts
Nonetheless, if you think it is the dream of every African to creep his way into the developed world, then you have probably not yet met Mr. Ato Ulzen-Appiah, the director of GhanaThink Foundation.
Mr. Ato is a passionate young entrepreneur, consultant, social media influencer and blogger, whose undying devotion to the development of Ghana and Africa, mostly in technology and entrepreneurship, has earned him the enviable award of African Youth of the Year 2018, among others.
Having had the opportunity to study at two world class universities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT) and Stanford University, Mr. Ato settled on coalescing his experiences and skills to provide opportunities and avenues to help young intellectuals in Ghana and beyond to develop their own talents.
In an interview with Ms. Kabukie Bannerman of the much-appraised Success Drive Show, Mr. Ato revealed that he was challenged by his surroundings at MIT and Stanford University to be a better version of himself. He began loving the idea of networking; an idea which would later be a guiding force in the birth of the infamous GhanaThink Foundation.
GhanaThink Foundation, as revealed by Mr. Ato, was started by a community of Ghanaian students(mostly in the US) who started an online conversation to talk about Ghanaian and African stuff. Their conversation yielded great solutions to the many problems facing Ghana and so they decided to do more than just talk; to act. GhanaThink Foundation, thus, is the result of their decision to take a positive action to transform Ghana, and it operates with the mission of mobilizing and organizing talent for the primary benefit of Ghana.
GhanaThink Foundation, over the years, have ignited dreams and developed talents through its programs, which include: Ghana Volunteer Program, Ghana Youth Social Entrepreneurship Program, Junior Camp Ghana, and the famous Barcamp Ghana, which mentors and promotes networking among the youth.
Mr. Ato believes the solution to our problems lies within, buried in the hearts of the undeveloped talents. He therefore sets out to be a championing cause of change in Ghana. Thus, with the brightened flame of patriotism to his beloved country, and an unrelenting desire to make it a better place, he hopes to achieve this through the cooperative efforts of the youth.
