Pax Romana UHAS/MTS Week Celebration ends successfully
UHAS/MTS'S Pax Romana week celebration is a carved one which is annually commemorated. This year's saw a flamy celebration under the theme "Empowering the Youth for the Great Commission".
In a close interview with Mr. Ambrose Amevia, the Organizer for the association, he explained that the week celebration was duly launched on Sunday 30th September, 2018 with a chain of activities from Thursday, October 4th to Sunday October 7th, 2018 and was climaxed with a thanksgiving Mass.
The chain of events which were talks on Praises and Worship, Talent Show (drama, cultural dance, choreography, song ministrations) with clean up exercise and evangelism all found their way through this year's week celebration.
He told Campus Radio why there is an urgent need for christians to take up the work of God.
On this note, he retorted that, "most christians are dormant when it comes to the work of God, if the kingdom of God is for us all, then why should you wait to be a pastor or a Reverend Father or probably a worker in the church to start the work Christ has entrusted to us?". The theme for this year's Pax Romana week celebration was therefore centered around youth empowerment for the commission of Christ.
Mr. Amevia informed Campus Radio Ghana that currently christian youths waste a lot of their time on social media thereby forgetting what they have to do as youths for Christ. Just sharing the word to someone can heal, and can bring someone closer to God.
On his experience at the evangelism program on Saturday, Mr. Amevia responded that, "people just need the word, people are dying just to hear the word of God.
If we as youths can stand up and share the word once in a while, we would win souls for Christ as the mandate of Christ is to bring his children back to him so we can secure our place in heaven".
Miss Joycelyn Stevens and Mr. Daniel Gomado, members of the association rated this year's celebration as one which went well and stamped that it is ideal for the youth to continue to develop their faith on a daily basis, no matter where they find themselves.
Pax Romana is an international lay Catholic movement. It combines the representation of two movements with similar interests and goals, the International Catholic Movement for Intellectual and Cultural Affairs (ICMICA or ICMICA/MIIC) and the International Movement of Catholic Students (IMCS or IMCS/MIEC).
These two groups operate independently, but share the common name of Pax Romana in representation at the United Nations and UNESCO with some areas of focus which are human rights, democracy, education, eradication of poverty, sustainable development, and inter-cultural/inter-religious dialogue. Each of these focuses is approached from the perspective of Catholic social teaching with the goal of promoting peace, in service of the common good.
