The Model ECOWAS SUMMIT, (MES) , is a biennial event that brings together youth, private bodies as well as stakeholders from across West Africa to deliberate on issues pertaining to the development of the West African economy as well as its young people.

This year's edition of MES which took place in Accra, Ghana from 31st May to 2nd June, 2018, was held under the theme: "A New West African Owned Economy, Setting the Agenda for New Opportunities" and saw participants troop in from various parts of the West African continent and even beyond to grace the occasion which ended in a grand success.

This year's event, which marked the third edition, honored a number of delegates for exhibiting high standards of proficiency in various roles played during the summit, two of whom are students of UHAS. Hon. Vasco Ayere, the immediate past Speaker of the UHAS SRC parliament and Hon. Obed Amenyo, the immediate past Provincial SRC president for Ho campus, were the two out of six participants from UHAS who brought glory home by scooping the envious awards of Best Vice President and Best Delegate for specialized technical committee responsible for trades, customs, taxation, money and payments.

The agenda for day one of the program was a diplomatic cocktail reception while a West Africa Youth Economic forum and exhibition was organized on day two in which the delegates were grouped into various areas of interest which included Enterpreneurship and investment forum, Agribusiness forum, and Technology and Innovation forum.

The final day of the program was occupied with diplomatic sessions which included debates, lobbying, research, moderated and unmoderated caucus, and plenary sessions among others.

Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the summit aims to impart various leadership qualities and skills for self-development. Campus Radio Ghana says congratulations to Hon. Vasco Ayere and Hon. Obed Amenyo for making UHAS proud. We look forward to the impartation of their acquired skills to the betterment of our societies and the nation at large.
