The Ghanaian Politician; Is it a funfair or Democracy?
It saddens my heart to be a part of a nation that has no direction or future. Things are falling apart and hypocrisy is at play. Parochial interest and greed are escalating among the political divides. The nation is not actually a center of reference but only serves as a casino with only the playing teams winning and the game owner continue to make losses. What a callous and unjust system?
When, it comes funding projects to evacuate pupils learning under trees, we can make all the noise on media. We can contribute big in funerals to show our worth and garnish our political fortunes but cannot contribute to save a dying child with a "hole in heart". We can blow cash buying buses for 275 constituencies for party's operation but cannot buy ambulances for 10 regions and Ghana of over 30 million population still rely on 55 ambulances.
We can abandoned uncompleted structures and hospitals without beds and demolished public funded structures to build a national cathedral. Throughout in the Bible, the Kings who build altars or temples for God were blessed beyond curse before they built for God altars to worship him. Here in Ghana, we are cursed to the marrow and God knows our plights.
The most stunning one is MPs contributed/contributing over 600,000.00ghs within a space of 3 days to sponsor a presidential aspirants and cannot contribute to buy beds for our hospitals or even a single ambulance for one district. This is the time for the youth to reason and know that, our elders out there are for their families and their stomachs.
Elsewhere like the United States, where they can print their own money and generate funds internally to finance all their projects and even blow billions on their military, Donald Trump is taking $1.00 as salary just as it is stipulated by law for every working citizen to be paid. The amazing part of the story is that, Somewhere in Africa where we borrow to pay salaries and wages, CEOs, Presidents, ministers, MPs are taking the largest chunk of the borrowed monies. Isn't it interesting? Do we still have a future despite all these? Lol!
When will we as a country be able to set our priorities right and make the system work equitably for every citizen? When will we reason beyond the borders of political parties and demand accountability from our leaders? When will majority in Parliament ever reject a government policy in the interest of the public?
When will minority support government policies that are of national interest without politicking with them? We certainly do not have a future when our leaders continue to write fictional stories to read as speeches at gatherings just to impress us and go and sign fat pay cheques at the end of the month? Karma is a Bitch.
