The Stance of UNSAG on the Nation Builders Corps(NABCO) after the official launch
The National Executive Council (NEC) of UNSAG after listening to the launch of the Nation Builders' Corps wishes to inform its noble graduate nurses and midwives NOT TO ACCEPT NOR REGISTER for the NABCO (Heal Ghana) policy.
At the Official Launch of the Nation Builders' Corps by the President, H. E Akufo-Addo at KNUST Great Hall, it was disheartening how our fears about this initiative came into full glare. The numerous questions that were lingering on our minds were not only unanswered but added unto.
Which facilities will the graduates be working at?
With respect to the monthly stipend of GH¢700.00, what will be the job description of these graduates?
Will they be expected to perform the same tasks as their colleagues and yet be paid differently?
How do you roll off when financial clearance comes?
What happens to the numerous graduates outside the 10,000 target?_
Lastly and most importantly, what happened to the 27,000 nurses and midwives out of the 32,000 health professionals the government promised to employ in 2018?
Paraphrasing the Heal Ghana Module, "trained nurses and other healthcare workers" are the main target group for the implementation of this module hence the need for an alliance as a joint Health Students' Association to picket against this unfair treatment.
We therefore, call on all our graduate nurses and midwives not to apply to be employed under the Heal Ghana Module as we keep up with steps to ensure that the government pursues all earlier promises made to us.
Thank you.
