5% of annual SRC dues to go into Scholarship fund- Hon. Loglo
The UHAS Student Financial Support policy has been set into motion after it received endorsement at the last parliamentary sitting.

Prior to the enactment of this new policy, there  an existing one with the name "Project 5 cedis" by the erstwhile Kporha-led administration which was solely funded by students contributions to support brilliant but needy student.

Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, Hon. Loglo Victor told Campus Radio that the total amount bequeathed to him by the former committee was GHC 450.00. He revealed that the policy document has passed through many hands for strict scrutiny and assessment until they received the greenlight to proceed with the implementation.

He also mentioned that 5% of the annual SRC dues will be credited to the fund with external support from charitable organizations, corporate bodies and private individuals.

According to the policy document, all registered students who have spent more than an academic semester will be eligible to benefit from this support. Hon. Loglo added that students will go through vetting and approved before they can receive the support.

Federal SRC President, H.E Afrane Pious was enthused with realisation of this vision. He disclosed that an amount of GHC 10,000.00 will be credited to the scholarship fund as seed capital to begin the process. He mentioned quite a number of tertiary institutions who were equally implementing such policy and was glad to receive invitation from the University of Development Studies to assist them in formulating theirs.

The Chair of the committee was convinced that the policy will be sustained for successive administration to follow suit.
