✅ UHAS EC adopts e-voting in upcoming elections

The floor of Parliament last Saturday, 10th February, 2018 became a crucible for intense debate and agitation over some vital issues billed for discussion at the sitting of the UHAS SRC Parliament.

Key amongst them was the budget of the Electoral Commission to run the upcoming elections in March, 2018. Portions of the budget indicated the initiative to adopt the e-voting technique to make it convenient for students during voting.

After a series of deliberations, one of the IT officers was invited to explain explicitly to parliamentarians how that system runs. The e-voting mechanism was unanimously accepted by parliamentarians.

Chairman of the Electoral Commission of UHAS SRC, Haruna Salisu Mohammed popularly known as "Zylem" informed Campus Radio that this initiative will save cost and time. He anticipated that there wouldn't be challenges should the voting end.

Meanwhile, opening of nominations will end on February 15, 2018, making room for other electoral processes to be carried out.
The EC for the first time in the history of UHAS SRC will organize a Presidential Debate for the Federal aspirants.
