K.I.M organizes New Year Games for Kids
An Accra-based non-denominational community help group by name, Kids In Missions (KID) Ghana together with other sister institutions on 2nd January, 2019 implemented a new project dubbed New Year Kids Games (NYKG).
The NYKG is an initiate with the objective of exposing young kids to varieties of games and applied leisure activities which intend to form a very important part of their learning and psychomotor development and process as these kids age.
The event pooled together about 100 youngsters from four communities (Darkuman, Weija, Tetegu and Oblogo) in the Greater Accra region. The event which was held at the Oblogo Community school park featured competitions including but not limited to sack racing, lime and spoon, 200 meters dash, arm wrestling, and skipping. Audience and fans present at the game activities were also treated to some communication and socialization skills sessions as well as mouthwatering bites and music interludes.
Speaking at the event, the leader for Kids In Missions Ghana, Mr. Shadrack Akrofi-Quarcoo told Campus Radio that, “Research reveals that the loss of appetite in participating in games or even having leisure time by many while aging is usually more of a function of poor prioritization than due to increased responsibility.”
“While some parts of the world have continuously sought to dichotomize playing and work, some others have found a mutually consolidating attribute between the two”, he added.
Mr. Akrofi-Quarcoo finally expressed joy in the success of the project implemented. He thank all individuals and groups that supported the cause. Again, he hinted that contestants for the competitions who were primarily, students are scheduled for book awards in February 2019.
