Let'sDoitGhana embarks on a maiden clean up exercise

The Hohoe municipality experienced a free spirited demonstration of voluntarism from a group of enthusiastic volunteers who participated in the maiden clean up exercise organized by Let'sDoitGhana, a non governmental organization on the 15th of September, 2018.

These volunteers gave back to society  through cleaning of few spotted unkempt places in the municipality including the Lorry Park.

Mr Samuel Atsitsre who is the coordinator for Let'sDoitGhana, Hohoe chapter confirmed to Campus Radio Ghana in an interview that the cleanup went successfully as planned and the enthusiasm displayed was remarkable.

Mr. Atsitsre also used this medium to express his profound gratitude to all participants. He said, "I believe we've all been introduced to the Let's Do It movement and it's a vision for humanity. We have shown an interest that is not limited to just a group membership but a response to the call of duty of which we are socially and morally bound to be part of the solution."

He thanked the vibrant and much cheerful volunteers who were able to make it to the cleanup exercise. "It's worth knowing that you understand the real power we have in determining nature’s fate, and our own future, and with this I'm glad you did. This organization is all about communicating change in behavioural patterns and attitudes and we'd continue to embark on more bigger projects till we see the change we have to see," Mr. Atsitsre expounded.

Caring about trash because they can't afford not to, was the motivation to embarking on the clean up exercise.

The coordinator informed all that the exercise is not the end of it all because cleanups are not the most effective way of achieving a clean world. He indicated that they are looking forward to making more engagements to bring into light this ambitious goal of a clean and healthy environment.

Let’sDoitGhana signed up to Let’sDoitWorld in 2010 and is legally registered as a non-governmental organization working to promote a clean Ghana through mobilizing volunteers and communities to conduct clean-up exercises for improved sanitation as well as building partnerships for joint waste management campaigns.
